  1. D-Marie Says:

As a general rule, you should NEVER feed your rabbit lettuce. Lettuce contains lactucarium, which can give your rabbit diarhea so bad that it becomes fatal. Some people say that it is okay to feed Romaine lettuce because it contains the least lactucarium of the common lettuce varieties.
Some things are dangerous for bunny like :

Clover, Foxglove, Honeysuckle, Iris, Hemlock, Poppies, Deadly Nightshade, Buttercups, Bluebells, Arum Lilies, Ivy, Daffodils and other bulbs, Primulas, Jasmines, Fairy Primrose, Dahlia, Delphiniums, Larkspur, Snowdrops, Tulips, and Anemonies are all common plants that can cause problems for your bunny. In general it is best to restrict your bunny to grass only areas.

All that being said I feed my bunny a very cheap bunny diet I buy at a feed store not a pet store. The feed stores are usually cheaper and the quality is good. To supplment the bag I get is 20lbs for 7.99 and lasts for a loooong time. I feed carrots, and you know when you pull the dandelion weeds out of your yard and garden? They make wonderful bunny salad as the bunny loves to dine on the leaves and even the flowers. Apples are also very good treats for bunny.

I give my rabbit mr.johnsons baby rabbit food , they are pellets, but i also give her cellery (especially leaves) and some carrot every day. And about 3 times a week i give her a little piece of banana and strawberry (Its so seldom because they are fruits and have a lot of sugar). If you give her too much fruit she will get fat and eventually depressed !
And she always needs plenty of hay for her to nibble on ,,, hay helps the digestive system and helps prevent hairballs. Hairballs for rabbits are lethal because rabbits cant throw up and thus cant get rid of a ball of hair in their intestines. And of course always have fresh water near her either in a bowl or a bottle at the side of the cage.
