motherofthree asked:
I have been seeing commercials for Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem. has anyone tried these? Are they really effective for losing weight with the foods you buy from them? It is so expensive but I don’t know what else to do. I need help!

All diets work in the same way. If they restrict calories to a point where you are burning more than you eat, you will lose weight. If the diet does this than it will work, if not you will fail. Whether or not a diet is healthy is separate from whether or not it will work. If you severely restrict calories to under 1200 per day, you will lose weight but going this route is very unhealthy so be careful when reading about these diets. Also beware of diets that limit you to one food. Even if you are taking in a good amount of calories, you won’t be able to get all the vitamins, nutrients, fat, carbohydrates or protein from just one type of food.

the thing about those diets, is that when you loose the weight, well you’re not going to eat their food forever. What you want is a healthy lifestyle change. I’ve seen this work in two places:
Weight Watchers
and
Sparkpeople
I can’t give my account for weight watchers because I’ve never used it, but sparkpeople is a free online weightloss community that gives you a diet plan, an exercise plan, professional support, message boards and lots more.
The weight loss program that has the best results is one that is catered to your needs. It is the ones that do not focus on “lose 10 pounds, lose 50 pounds” but are focused on giving you a healthy lifestyle that will enable you to KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF once you lost it.

Losing weight can be hard work, but it is well worth the effort. Just remember baby steps count too. Keep working out eat healthy and in a few weeks you may surprised be the results! I highly recommend an eBook (electronic book) called “Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle” Download it here: It is exceptional!
Good Luck!

I have tried Nutrisystem, and in addition to being costly, the food isnt that good (tasting). I know that it does work, but I got sick of the taste of the food, and sometimes even if you order the stuff that you like, they make substitutions when they don’t have what you want in (which is usually the stuff nobody likes). I ended up selling about 2 1/2 weeks of the food on craigslist.com because it was just sitting around not being eaten.
Like someone else said, you are not going to be eating their food forever, so you should try to change your diet including food that you could eat time and time again. I have used and liked the Zone Diet, it is something that can be followed using your own food throughout your life. I often eat the zone bars or south beach diet foods.

I used to use the jenny craig but it cost me too much for not enough results so I switched to shapewroks and it is half the price for twice the results. I lost 16 pounds in four months on jenny craig (plus it cost me a fortune) but I have lost 36 pounds in just over four months on the shapeworks. Plus I get advoce and help all the way through which is great. try, these guys are the best and once you replace the food you normally eat with the shakes and supplements it can save you money on what you spend now.
I hope this helps you, good luck.

The Trim Advantage system is the best plan I know of.
This kit delivers, with complete support for your first 30 days on the Trim Body System Protein Plus Diet. The kit includes a binder to hold the print materials, which include the Quick Start Guide, a 12-page booklet that introduces you to the plan. It also includes Meal Plan Cards that step you through every meal for 30 days, including shopping tips, meal preparation, supplements, and recipes. Eighteen detailed, full-colour Recipe Cards show you how to fix simple, healthy meals, fast. And a week’s worth of 10-minute exercises are described on the Fitness Cards, so you can take your exercise plan with you, wherever you go.
In the kit is a 2-DVD set that features a physician discussing the health effects of being overweight, a fitness expert who introduces you to and coaches you through all the exercises in the 4-3-2-1 Body Training System, and an introduction to the Protein Plus Diet. The kit also includes Nutrilite and Mekiwin weight-loss support supplements and protein powder and Trim Advantage protein bars and meal replacement shake mix.
The Trim Body System is designed to encourage the kinds of changes in lifestyle that may result in lifelong weight loss. Medical authorities recommend a weight loss of no more than 2-3 pounds a week to reduce the health risks associated with more rapid weight loss.
*The Protein Plus Diet was developed by The Better Life InstituteTM and approved by the Nutrilite Health Institute.
